Oesophageal cancer is responsible for almost 3% of all cancers in the UK and is the ninth most common cancer in the UK. The risk of developing the disease increases with age with around 50 cases diagnosed in people aged under 40 years.
Stomach cancer is the ninth most common cancer in males in the UK and fourteenth in females.
